International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)


  • Non-profit association (more than 85,000 members) founded in 1979. Best known for the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and its annual conference, the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) (now simply the ISTE Conference)
  • Publishes a number of books and periodicals, advocates for incorporating tech in education at the national level
  • Provides a number of professional development opportunities for faculty and administrators.
  • Responsible for recommending guidelines for accreditation to NCATE for programs in educational computing and technology teacher preparation.
